Flu Vaccinations (Seasonal Influenza)

Flu Vaccinations are now available for those 65 and older at the Downtown Walk-in Clinic. The cost is $10 and you need to have your provincial health card. Flu vaccines are available Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3:30 pm. The PEI Department of Health has made the following recommendations:

  • The vaccine will be available to those who are 65 years and older and residents in long-term care facilities.
  • The program will focus first on providing the regular seasonal influenza vaccination to those at highest risk for seasonal influenza and will be followed closely by the H1N1 vaccine. After the H1N1 vaccine has been offered to all Islanders, it is anticipated that the seasonal influenza vaccine will be offered to the remaining high risk groups and others who wish to receive it.

NOTE:
People who have had a severe anaphylactic (life threatening) allergic reaction to eggs or to a previous dose of the vaccine should not receive the flu shot. Anaphylactic reactions occur within 20 to 30 minutes after the vaccine has been administered.

If you have any questions about the flu vaccine or would like more information, speak to your doctor, or visit the PEI Department of Health website.
